Venue: Filton GC
Sat 28th April, 1st Tee 2pm
On a glorious sunny day on Saturday 28 Apr 07, 16 BAGS golfers in teams of 3
(work that one out!) set off full of hope and anticipation to win the first team
event of the new season, the Tony Screen Cup. Three members, one of whom was
the Captain, also had a full belly of Filton breakfast inside them to sustain
them throughout the round but to no avail as only the Captain's prediction of
the winning team came to pass! Team scores ranged from a lowly 48 points to a
very respectable 67 by Chris Sheahan, Tim Wollaston and Clive Perry each of whom
now pass under the Handicap Executioner's axe for the first time this season as
winners of the Cup !
Other successful candidates on the day were Tim Wollaston again (longest drive)
and David (Grumpy Old BAGS Secretary) Gray who was nearest the pin.
The only successful 2s candidate, one Mr Charlie Ross who was saving his pennies
for aviation fuel, was disqualified for not paying an entrance fee! The upshot
of this was an increase in prize money to the winners of the LD and NP with the
remainder going to the Captain's Charity (The Judy Wood Cancer Charity) for the
season.
Invites for my first Captain's Day at the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club will be
despatched early this week and I encourage you all to attend on what is a very
enjoyable day. The date is 18 May 07 so please put it in your diary"
Regards, Paul Stevenson
