Graham Ryder and Stan Jones

I joined Filton in 1965 and then joined BAGS in 1968 (Handicap 24) when Stan Jones was on the committee with Ernie Leek as Treasurer and Vic Eaves as Captain in the days of Bristol Siddley and BAC (British Aircraft Company).

We had a medal competition every fortnight at Filton, when I became a committee member in 1978 after many years at the club (Handicap 16). We had our meetings in West Works and I became Treasurer in 1979 (Handicap 14) and resigned when made redundant by Rolls-Royce in December 1998 (Handicap 8).

I then returned to the committee and now elected President (Handicap 6 ) with Stan Jones as Vice President in 2007, after the sad death of Jack Cowood last year.

I am now looking forward to the society matches & away days both in the UK and abroad.

I would like to whish all the society golfers and their families a happy and successful year.
